Taberna Santo António, Rua das Virtudes 32. Queue from about 12:00 and 19:00. Ask for the meat plate, not the fish of the day. Churrasqueria Lameiras, Rua do Bonjardim 546. Francesinha once at Café Santiago, then never again. Skip the Ribeira sardine stands.

Book

The room only. Metro is metrodoporto.pt. Buy an Andante that includes the airport zone at the machine. The cheap city ticket will bounce you.

Don't

Hills, slippery granite after rain. Ribeira menus are for other people. Do not collect the car until Sunday morning, in the city. Not the airport.

A quinta, a river, two dinners. This is the first spend.

Or Quinta de la Rosa on the river at Pinhão: in 15:00 to 19:00, out by 11:00, tell them when you arrive. Quinta da Côrte if both are gone and you want more silence.

Eat

Both nights on the estate. At Nova, Terraçu's, the old Conceitus. Open 12:30 to 15:00 and 19:00 to 21:30. Origens is about €135 with wine. Tell them to swap any fish course for meat or vegetables. At La Rosa, Cozinha da Clara, same request. Do not drive to Pinhão for a tourist terrace.

Book

The room now. Dinner both nights with the hotel. Boat is the Pinhão to Tua 2 h shared, or a private rabelo from €181/h. Dawn or late. Not noon.

Don't

The Douro Line train is down until April 2026. You are driving anyway. The roads are slow, which is the point. One extra quinta is enough.

Alentejo

One night under Monsaraz. Monsanto first, the Tagus gap on the way south, then the farm.

Don't

Offline maps before you leave the Douro. Coverage dies on back roads. Leave the quinta at 08:00. Monsanto first: park in Relva or at the Miradouro, lunch before 14:30, then the castle. Not the car up the lanes. Then Portas de Ródão, twenty to forty minutes, on the way south. Dark Sky after dinner.

Vicentina

Empty Atlantic. Cliffs, pork, the end of Europe. Five nights. Unpack. Leave Monday for Lisbon.

Eat

The coast will try to feed you fish. Say no. In Zambujeira, Costa Alentejana. Their own meat, alcatra, black-pig secretos, +351 969 434 870. Or Miramar in Brejão. In Milfontes, Tasca do Celso if you want a proper room and a wine list. Meat. Pizza at Casino da Ursa when every board is sea. Sagres night is steak or roast chicken in Vila do Bispo, 15 min inland.
